As Deputy Director, Strategic Communications, Nina oversees the Network’s strategic marketing planning, social media campaigns, and outreach efforts with press and news outlets.

Nina has a proven track record leading and expanding strategy, targeting key audiences, and developing brand identities for clients, including for some of the world’s leading think tanks and high-profile political leaders; and advising and executing top-down public relations campaigns for human rights, crisis management, and anti-corruption issues. Her previous role at Media Theory included managing and counseling clients on growth opportunities, corporate reputation, issues management, proactive and reactive earned media, and thought leadership.

Prior to Media Theory, Nina was the Executive Director at Council for Advocacy and Policy Solutions, a nonprofit think tank in the Washington, D.C. region. She holds a B.S. in Public Relations from the University of Idaho.

Since Donald Trump took office for his second term as president on January 20, 2025, he has signed a series of Executive Orders (EOs), many of which impact public health. The Network has created an EO tracker which compiles the 2025 EOs most relevant to the public health space through a lens of Health in All Policies (HiAP). Community adaptation is a process communities utilize to lessen the impacts of climate change locally. Community adaptation policies provide cooling and shade, reduce air and water pollution, mitigate the effects of flooding, and reduce health disparities. Implementing effective community adaptation policies that center health equity involves more than public health departments – it involves housing, energy, transportation, parks and recreation, and other agencies, with community engagement in each step of the process. Community adaptation will continue to be critical to ameliorating the health impacts of climate change and combatting environmental injustices.

The University of Louisville’s Green Heart Project found that living in or around green canopy enhanced cardiovascular health. Beyond the findings related to cardiovascular health, the project provides strong support for the positive impacts of urban greening and highlights the role that environmental interventions can play in fostering healthier, more resilient communities.
