Protections for Reproductive Health
With the transition to a new federal administration and continued attacks on reproductive rights in the wake of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, recent years have brought some significant setbacks for reproductive health policy. Changes in Title X and Medicaid funding threatened the availability of critical reproductive health care. Certain federal privacy protections were eliminated, leaving reproductive health information more vulnerable to punitive use and disclosure. And states and localities hostile to reproductive rights pursued ever more draconian methods of restricting reproductive freedom. In the wake of these changes, health departments, policymakers, advocates, and others may be asking themselves, “what now?”
This series of resources responds to that question, monitoring developments and identifying opportunities to use law and policy for the advancement of reproductive health in an adverse environment. The Network is committed to supporting those protecting and promoting reproductive health, and we welcome questions, ideas, and requests for consultation on the resources in this series as well as other efforts to continue progress amidst opposition.
