Cannabis Legalization: Critical Policy Issues Impacting the Health of Children

Overview

April 4 | 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. CT

Thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia have now legalized cannabis for medical and/or adult-use. This wave of policy change has important health implications for children, especially those with medical conditions whose treatment includes the use of cannabis products and who must therefore navigate cannabis use in schools and other environments. Additionally, new research is raising concerns about the effects of exposure to cannabis advertising on children and youth, including increased underage usage and changing youth risk perception. Attend this webinar for an examination of these two youth focused policy issues that states must address as part of cannabis legalization.

By attending this webinar, you will:

  • Obtain an overview of the public health risks associated with youth cannabis use.
  • Learn about the use of medical cannabis and pediatric patients.
  • Gain an understanding of the key policy approaches to medical cannabis access in schools.
  • Learn about the negative impacts of cannabis advertising on children’s health.
  • Acquire an overview of varying state policies addressing outdoor cannabis advertising.
