| Attempts to Restrict Ballot Initiatives That Protect Abortion Access As a result of the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs, advocates on both sides of the abortion issue turned to state constitutions to determine the contours of a right to abortion or to make clear no such right exists under state law. | Direct Entry Midwives Across the Nation
Midwives play a critical role in reducing maternal mortality and many states have expanded the number of midwives practicing in their states by allowing the licensure of “direct entry” midwives. This resource provides a summary of laws in all states and the District of Columbia regulating direct entry, including training requirements for licensure, the state regulatory body, and what medications midwives can administer while practicing. |

Call for Abstracts: 2024 NACCHO 360
The call for abstracts for the 2024 NACCHO360 Conference, to be held July 23–26, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan, is now open. Public health professionals are invited to share their research findings, best practice training models, tools, or other resources that advance the field of public health and healthcare. Abstract submissions will be accepted through December 31, 2023.

The Network is seeking a Region Director to provide strategic and organizational leadership for the Network’s Western Region team. This role is responsible for overseeing the Region’s strategic and sustainability planning, day-to-day operations, legal technical assistance, outreach efforts, and product development activities.
