Gabrielle Sanchez-Sandoval is a native of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She graduated from New Mexico State University in 1994 with a Bachelors in Social Work; graduated from UNM Law School in 2000.
Gabrielle has worked in State Government for 18 years. Prior to law school she worked as a Child Protective Services Investigator. After graduation she worked as a prosecutor, prosecuting domestic violence crimes and then moved to the Department of Health beginning as an Assistant General Counsel. She was soon promoted to Deputy General Counsel, served as Acting General Counsel for over a year and was appointed General Counsel in December of 2012 by Governor Susanna Martinez. She is a Board Member of the Health Law Section of the NM Bar.
Gabrielle has represented the state psychiatric hospital and practiced in the area of mental health law for 15 years. She is the Chair of the Supreme Court Rules Committee on Mental Health. Additionally, she has been a member of numerous groups created by legislative memorials to discuss mental health issues and related law. She has made presentations on mental health issues including a CLE on Treatment Guardianship in October of 2013 for the State Bar.
She is the mother of two young children. She coached dance for several years and is green belt in Krav Maga.
