In September of 2010, Dr. Terry Cline, Commissioner of Health appointed Don Maisch as General Counsel for the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The Office of the General Counsel is an office of ten (10) staff for the Oklahoma State Department of Health, representing the agency in a wide range of public health issues. In the nearly five years since Don has been named General Counsel, he and his staff have represented the agency in the federal district and appellate courts, the state district and appellate courts, as well as in various administrative matters.
Prior to being appointed General Counsel by the Commissioner of Health, Don worked for 16 years with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, representing the agency on a variety of issues, but most specifically concerning water and wastewater issues. For 10 of the 16 years with the DEQ, Don was the supervising attorney for water and wastewater quality.
Don is a 1986 graduate of the Oklahoma City University School of Law and worked for the first seven year of his legal career with Legal Aid of Western Oklahoma (which is now Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma).
