In her current position, Ann Hause oversees the Contracts and Procurement Unit, Internal Audit Unit, Records Management, HIPAA Privacy Officer and Institutional Review Board Administrator, and the Administrator for the State Board of Health. She works with all divisions within the Department to assess legal issues, determine statutory authority or lack thereof, and set policy in accord with the Department’s statutory authorization. Matters routinely dealt with at the division level include Open Records Act requests, conflict and ethics issues including Amendment 41, review of agency agreements such as interagency agreements and memoranda of understanding, and consulting regarding contract issues and disputes. She coordinates the legal services needs for the divisions and refers matters to the Attorney General’s Office when appropriate she also assist Department legislative staff in drafting Department legislative initiatives, and review proposed legislation for potential policy, legal and fiscal impact on the Department.
Prior to employment with the Department, she was a First Assistant Attorney General in the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, where she represented both the Department and the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing in health-related matters. Her practice spanned both litigation and transactional needs for her clients, including representation of several boards, such as the state Board of Health, and handling cases in both state and federal courts, in addition to a steady practice of administrative cases and appeals.
She received her bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and a law degree from the Ohio State University.
